Leaf Greener is an oft-photographed favorite of the street-style shutterbugs — see Exhibits A, B and C — but now we’re putting her under the Tory Daily lens. Here, wearing Tory Burch Holiday 2014, the Shanghai-based Stylist, Creative Consultant and Art Director introduces us to the city’s style and style scene.

Shanghai style is…
Feminine, chic and modern.

And my own style is…
Twisted chic, playful-meets-old-fashioned.

Personal styling tip…
Never spend more than five minutes to dress up.

Very first fashion obsession…
Watching Versace fashion shows and reading Vogue back in the Nineties. And George Michael’s Freedom and Too Funky music videos.

The quintessential item in every Shanghai wardrobe…
Cheongsam and PJs.

Favorite Chinese designer…
HuiShan Zhang. He is truly a garment maker. He always creates the most beautiful clothes with defined details and a Chinese cultural-inspired touch. He cares about clothes — he’s not just an image maker, he’s the real deal.

Best place to shop for local designers…
Dong Liang, a super-cool store with a great selection of local Chinese designers. It was founded by three young Chinese people who are passionate about design, beauty and the spirit behind clothes. They discover and support a lot of new talented Chinese designers in China. I have known and supported them from the beginning.

And best place to shop for vintage…
Luxe Vintage, founded by two cool Shanghainese ladies, Eva and Qing. In fact, the vintage business is really hard to get going in China, because most Chinese don’t wear vintage clothes. They are very superstitious about clothes that have already been worn by someone else. They consider it bad luck.

The Leaf Greener Guide to Shanghai would include a stop at…
Spicy Moment — my favorite Chinese restaurant in Shanghai, which has great spicy food from Hunan province and it is a must if you’re here.

Packing essentials for a trip to Shanghai…
An embroidered absinthe green silk gown from Christian Dior’s Spring 1997 haute couture collection, designed by John Galliano; Shanghai Express lipstick by NARS, and the soundtrack to In the Mood for Love, a great Chinese film about Shanghai during the 1920s, directed by Wong Kar-wai.

One thing you’d be surprised to know about Shanghai style…
Sneakers are very trendy now. Every stylish girl is wearing sneakers, everything from Adidas Stan Smith and Nike Air Max to skate sneakers from Céline and Vans. Shanghai is a very feminine city, and most of the Shanghainese girls love to wear high heels, so this is a bit of a surprise on the Shanghai style scene.
